rooiedopRooie Dop Chica Americana IPA, 330ml, 7.1%

In the words of the brewery…

“At Rooie Dop, we don’t really care about styles. But this is our version of an American IPA. Classic example of the style? Fits perfectly into the category? No. Does it need to be? It just needs to be pretty tasty! Chinook and Cascade hops dominate this beer and are assisted by a biscuity malty backbone. You just can’t resist a Chica Americana!”

In my words…

…it’s a hop bomb. If you like your IPAs to smack you in the face will a bag full of hops, then this is the one for you. A personal favourite of mine. So leave some for me, please…

Flying Dog update

Hello all…

Some good/bad news regarding our Flying Dog tap takeover which we had originally slated for Wednesday 27 March…

The bad news first – it has been postponed and will NOT be taking place on the 27th.

The good news is that we’re delaying it because we’ve found out that if we wait a little longer, we’ll be able to get our hands on a load of very, very interesting Flying Dog beerage that you may very well have never, ever had before.

So, it will happen (soon), but the current plan is to delay until a little after Easter. As soon as we know exactly when we’re doing it, we’ll let you know, so as always, watch this space!

toccalmatoAfternoon all…

We’re rather excited to announce that The Rake is the first bar in London to receive delivery of two kegs from Toccalmatto of Italy. These are…

Big Lager – 6.6% Imperial Pils brewed with Citra, Nelson and Stella. This is a collaboration brew with Swedish All In Brewing.

Supernova Suicide – 4.5% Belgian-style Saison, dry hopped with Stella and Summer with stunning white melon fruity notes and great drinkability.

We’ll be putting these on the bar from 3pm tomorrow. That’s right, tomorrow. Do whatever you have to do to get some of this before it runs out – leave work early, tell your spouse you’re going to squash practice, return some videotapes…

…really, now. You don’t want to miss them!

See you tomorrow at 3pm!

Rebellion Updated

Afternoon all – some more concrete details for the Rebel Brewing Co. night this Monday:

There will be 5 casks, not 6 as originally trumpeted – this is due to the fact that I can’t count, rather than any skullduggery occurring anywhere…

The five beers are as follows:

Eighty Shilling
Milk Stout

Click on each one to find out a little more about it from Rebel themselves.

Three of the beers will be on handpull, with the other two available on cellar runs.

See you from 6pm on Monday!
